About Fluffy Dog Pottery

Why Fluffy Dog?

Fluffy Dog Pottery gets its name from a very special Labradoodle named Maddux.  Maddux was as loyal and gentle as they come.  She always gave you a warm fuzzy feeling when she snuggled with you.  Our name honors her memory.

My Creative Process

All my pieces are hand built - not wheel thrown.  Each item starts out as a lump of clay which is rolled out into slabs before being formed into its desired shape.  Due to the individual nature of the hand building process, you will notice variations and small imperfections. These do not impact the use or enjoyment of the piece, but rather accentuate its character.  Like fingerprints, they ensure that every piece is unique.  I do not list any pieces that have flaws or imperfections that would impact the use or that did not come out of the kiln exactly as I intended.

Each piece is fired twice in a kiln to ensure vitrification and make them fit for intended use.  Pieces are glazed with food safe and lead-free glazes.  Glaze melts in unique ways when it is heated in the kiln - and this ensures every piece is different than the last.
